Travel is something we enjoy as a family. There is so much to see and do in the world around us. We look forward to visiting other countries, experiencing other cultures and spending time together when the time is right.
My husband is fortunate enough to work for an international company that affords him the opportunity to travel the world. He is on a work trip to Singapore and China. Unfortunately, I was not able to join him. Someone had to stay home and manage the fort. The kids have school and afterschool activities. He’s missing all the fun. I did not finish running around doing pick up from practices until 8:30pm last night. I digress.
It took 12 hours to fly from Detroit to Tokyo and another 7 hours to Singapore. Yikes! I am not a fan of long flights.
He’s been sending me photos since I can’t be there with him. I thought I would share the photos with you. The photos were taken with a cell phone so they are not the best quality. We’ve talked through Facetime on our iPhones. Our connection was poor at times so we have talked mainly through Facetime Audio which works great. Modern technology is pretty awesome.
Singapore is a modern city. Did you know that Singapore is a city and a country? That’s right, Singapore, Singapore. The official languages are English, Malay, Tamil and Standard Mandarin.
Here are a few photos of popular tourist attractions in the bay area. I don’t have details about them but they are really cool to look at.
A night-time view.
A day-time view.
A ferris wheel on the bay. It reminds me of the ferris wheel on the pier in Chicago.
The view of the city while on the ferris wheel.
This is a shopping mall where many of the domestic workers go on their day off which is Sunday.
The next stop is Guangzhou China. He also sent us pictures of his very nice hotel room at the Ritz Carlton. Poor him. He’s really roughing it over there.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our brief snapshot of Singapore and China. It sounds like a great experience.
I’m praying for safe travels home for my other half.
Have you ever been to either of these countries? What did you like most?
Peace and Blessings,
