ABOUT THE BLOG
Hi, I’m Monique. This is a life style family blog that includes inspirational posts and anecdotal stories that cover a range of topics. You’ll find posts about motherhood, parenting, gratitude, empowering girls, faith, work and family balance, self-improvement, decorating and DIY, and travel.
Life takes many twists and turns as we strive to live our best lives. It feels good to know you are not alone and other people out there share similar experiences. My goal is to be a source of encouragement and to help you find the lesson in the experience.
WHO IS MONIQUE
MORE ABOUT ME
I’m a Massachusetts native who is the mother of three busy teens, an adult daughter, and a grandmother to a super cute little girl. I’ve been married to a pleasant-natured, hard-working Engineer for 19 years. We’ve lived in four states due to corporate relocations. Change doesn’t scare us one bit. We’ve been living outside of Cincinnati since 2014.
In my professional life, most of my experience has been in higher education including positions as a tenure track Assistant Professor, and an Administrator. I also worked in the nonprofit sector for a few years which I found to be very fulfilling.
As a multifaceted woman, I wear many hats. My biggest and most important hat right now is mom and they keep me on the run. Time goes by quickly so my goal is to be present and available to my kids while I can. They’ll be off doing their own thing before you know it.
I’m also a Consultant working with our local school district in the area of Diversity and Inclusion, and Recruitment and Retention strategies for teachers and staff.
My husband and I also own a real estate rental property business. In 2002 we bought our first investment home and haven’t looked back. Eighteen houses later we are still at it.
Why I Blog
In 2013 I discovered my creative side and was really obsessed with DIY projects and crafts. I still dabble when I have time. I usually have at least one project in the works. It was also a creative outlet for me while caring for my mom who was sick with lung cancer. We moved her into our home in the summer of 2013 and she passed four months later. Caring for her was a priceless detour.
I was following several decorating blogs and decided to start one of my own. It allowed me to express my creativity and gave me something else to focus on during such a difficult time in my life. My mom was my best friend.
After my blog was up and running, I quickly realized that a blog focused solely on DIY projects would not fulfill my need to connect with people in a meaningful way. I like to talk about life, feelings, challenges and triumphs. I’m a trained board certified Counselor with a doctorate degree. My natural instinct is to engage and support. That’s who I am.
We all have a story. Our experiences be they good or bad have molded us into who we are today. The challenge is taking those experiences and making them into something beautiful that changes our circumstances and uplifts others.
So join me as we LOVE others by sharing our gifts….
CARE for the people and things that are important to us…..and
LIVE our best lives while striving to be the best version of ourselves every day.
