I hope you had a great weekend. I enjoy the weekends so much even despite being busy with my kids and their activities. Me time can be challenging in between their social calendars and sport activities. My me time can be as simple as painting a vase while listening to music and sipping on a cup of coffee without anyone calling my name.
As I’ve shared before, I love to repaint things. I was feeling crafty over the weekend, and decided to repaint an old vase. I’ve had this vase for at least 15 years. It’s been in storage packed away.
Here’s the before…..The daisies no longer work for me.
All supplies were things I had on hand except the rope trim which cost $1.99 for each roll from Walmart.
My supplies included:
A couple of different size paint brushes
Acrylic paint in bayberry, and classic gold
Two rolls of braided trim rope
Mod Podge – gloss
I tried using painters tape to separate the sections but it did not work well. So I used a rubber band. I applied three coats of paint total and one coat of mod podge.
I have a thing for green. I’m not sure why. It’s been one of my favorite colors since I was a kid.
This is the finished product. I was a little heavy-handed with the hot glue, so I plan to put a few more pieces of rope around the middle sections of the vase to cover up the excess glue. I tried pulling the glue off but some of the paint came off. Bad idea. So as soon as I get some more rope, it will be complete. I’m not sure where it’s home will be, but I sure did enjoy painting it. It was very relaxing.
What have you been up to lately?
Peace and Blessings,
