Recently, I attended a Bokwa Fitness class at my gym for the second time. I can’t say it was super fun just yet but I am getting there. It really is an interesting concept.
What is Bokwa you ask?
Bokwa is a new and different approach to group exercise. They say that about all of the latest and greatest approaches out there. It definitely is different. The creativity out there never ceases to amaze me. Participants draw numbers and letters with their feet while engaging in various cardio moves. The music is usually popular radio music.
There were women of all ages in my class. After you learn the steps you can add your own flavor. Key point, you must learn the steps. It does require some thought for the newbies especially at 9am. It could just be me. The steps for the letter B have to be learned and they do not fit my vision of the letter B. Some of the other letters make sense like walking to the beat of the music in a circle for the number zero while waving one hand in the air.
My focus was to keep it moving. Our instructor mixed in a little upper body work out with optional weights. We also did some squats and lunges. I am still sore and that was two days ago. It’s a good kind of sore though. Bokwa is high energy but does not feel like an intense workout. All in all, I’d say its a good cardio workout. I’ll be going back for more. I’m challenging myself to learn those steps. Have you challenged yourself lately?
