Gratitude helps me to center my thinking in the midst of a busy day. This weekly post is my way of taking a moment to focus on the positives all around me that go unnoticed from day-to-day.
Today I am grateful that God gave me a spirit of compassion. It sounds simple but I’ve learned that not all of us have it. We all have our unique gifts, and I believe that’s mine. There have been times when I felt it was a burden because I allow things to weigh so heavy on my heart and mind. Because with compassion comes the desire to act or make a change. I’ve come to accept this part of me and I’ve learned that I can’t fix the world, but I can make a difference in my circle of influence.
My 39-year-old cousin passed away unexpectedly last week. He had some health issues in the past but was doing well. Life is fragile and unpredictable.
His financial resources were limited but friends and family pulled together to lay him to rest. It was a beautiful act of compassion.
I made the trip to Massachusetts this week for his service and wouldn’t have missed it. He was family, the only first cousin we had growing up in Massachusetts. Although he is gone, memories last a lifetime and we had some great times. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
What are you grateful for this week?
Peace and Blessings,
