Happy Memorial Day! Before I begin my post, I want to recognize all of those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Enjoy your time with your family and recognize the blessing in being together.
Move # 4
We are on the move again. My husband is transitioning to a new assignment with his employer. After six years in Missouri, we are moving back to Cincinnati in June. We lived in the Cinci area for a couple of years prior to moving to Missouri. I’m excited about the move since we are returning to familiar territory, same city (just 20 minutes North of Cinci), same schools and same friends. It will be a transition like all of our moves but we will survive. I’m looking forward to living closer to a major city. I like having options and taking advantage of all of the amenities that the city has to offer.
I recently sold my house and put a purchase contract on a new home in Ohio. My house sold in a record 4 days. All I can say is hallelujah!! It’s tough having a house on the market when you have real life going on. I was a bit snippy. My poor kids were subjected to, “pick that up, and put that away!” for several days. We also spent a lot of time getting our house in show ready condition and it paid off. Let’s just say I’ve done it before. This is our fourth corporate move.
Since I’m moving soon, I thought that I’d give you a brief tour of my humble abode. The tour is more for me than you, realizing that another chapter in our lives has been completed. It’s like a stroll down memory lane. This post will feature my kitchen and sunroom. I’ve mentioned before that I enjoy DIY projects. Well, I completed several in this house but did not realize the importance of before and after photos. I’ll be ready next time with the camera.
My kitchen does not have the open concept that most newer homes have today but I enjoy it anyway. It’s a good size. We contemplated remodeling but were advised a while ago not to since we are moving. I had big plans for this kitchen. My home sold quickly without the remodel. Just imagine spending all of that money on a kitchen remodel that I did not get to enjoy.
The kitchen does not generate much natural light. As you can see in the pictures, the lighting is not the best with or without the flash. Despite that, we share great meals, conversation, laughs and family time in this kitchen.
This is our family chalkboard in the kitchen. We use it to make note of items we need at the grocery store, and other pleasantries like “Happy Mother’s Day”. My kids love to write on it as you can see.
This word art sign also hangs in the kitchen above the door as you enter the sunroom. There is nothing like a little visual inspiration to get your mind right.
One of the nice features off of the kitchen is the add on sun room . Even though it’s not too sunny in this picture it has been my go to room for peace and quiet. My plants have grown like weeds in there. I tell everyone it’s the room not me.
The exposed brick gives it a rustic feel.
The windows could use a good washing but I don’t do windows. Plus the sunroom is elevated and would require a ladder.
Stay tuned for more of my house tour as I bid my home of six years farewell. I’m working on my photography skills, please be patient with me.
I’m looking forward to decorating (that’s the fun part) and settling into our new home.
Peace and Blessings!
