Quotes and inspirational messages inspire me. They always have. Words are one of the most moving expressions of human communication. I’m always encouraged by thought-provoking words that somehow make me better. I’m that person who sticks post-it notes with quotes on the bathroom mirror or rushes to find my notebook to write it down.
Last week, I attended a craft fair at one of our local high schools. It’s the largest fundraiser for the school every year. The vendors were all so creative and talented. Their products, goods and services were unique and well done. I was intrigued by one vendor in particular by the name of Tammy. She was selling “Joy Boxes”. Her business name is Tameka’s Treasures: Spreading Joy and Love. Joy Boxes consist of assorted boxes made of all different types of materials with a letter and over 500 inspirational quotes, messages and scriptures inside the box. The idea is, you give the box to someone who is special to you in some way. The note that comes inside of the box reflects just that.
Here are a few excerpts from the note included in the Joy Box:
If you have received this Joy Box, it means you are someone who over the years, has blessed my life. You have brought JOY to my world. You are someone who is dear to me and I love with all my heart. You have made a difference in my life. For that, I am forever grateful….
In your box is a collection of quotes, jokes, phrases, scriptures and things like that. They might make you laugh, or make you think….
That is what I wish for you. All the JOY you can imagine. So if you are feeling down, want to laugh, or just know that you are loved, open that Joy Box and know that you are….I Love You! The Joy Box is to be read everyday. When you are done, you can start over or start your own Joy Box. Put things in the box that when you look back at 10 years from now, will remind you of the Joy you have had over the years…..
What a great way to spread joy and love! I asked Tammy what inspired her to begin creating Joy Boxes. She shared that when she was working full-time she had quotes everywhere on her desk. A kindred spirit…. She eventually began collecting them and the Joy Box idea was born. She began giving them as gifts to others and then the requests started rolling in. The prices range from $10 on up, depending on the type of box. I bought one for myself and two others to give as gifts. I love my Joy Box! I never know how the Joy Box will inspire me on any given day. My joy box is the white wooden one pictured above. I’m searching for just the right picture to put in the heart opening on the outside of the box.
Tammy does not have a website but if you are interested in purchasing a Joy Box send me a comment to this message. The Joy Box concept is great and it was too good not to share. This is truly a labor of love, and a beautiful way to encourage others.
Have a great week!
